Welcome to The Food Bank of Central Louisiana
The Food Bank has produced a video that illustrates the need our local community has for our services. We visited with some of our member affiliates and talked with a few of their clients.
Back Pack Program
Mobile Pantry Program
The Food Bank’s Backpack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
The backpacks are filled with nutritious, easy-to-open food that does not require stove-top cooking. Since the food is distributed in backpacks, the children can discretely take the food home without being ridiculed or teased by other students.
Many communities across Central Louisiana lack access to food services like local pantries or meal programs. This is especially true in remote and rural areas, where there are also few grocery stores, farmers markets, and retailers that sell affordable fresh foods.
The Food Bank's Mobile Pantry Program can send a complete pop-up food pantry into any area where there is need. These food distributions are scheduled monthly so neighbors know when and where food will be available on a regular basis. New locations are added regularly. Check the schedule for current food distributions.
